Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday to discuss various matters concerning the northeastern state, officials said.

Following the meeting, Singh shared a message on his official X account, stating, “It was a privilege to meet the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji. His visionary leadership continues to inspire our commitment to building a peaceful, prosperous and Viksit Manipur as part of Viksit Bharat.”

The Chief Minister has been visiting the national capital since October 10 to discuss the state’s priorities with the Centre.

During his Delhi visit, Singh also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to discuss matters related to Manipur.

According to officials, all three Union ministers indicated that they would visit the state soon.

On Thursday, Shah assured Singh of the Centre’s full support in restoring peace, advancing development and addressing the aspirations of Manipur’s people.

A senior official from the Chief Minister’s Office in Imphal said Shah also acknowledged the state government’s continued efforts to restore normalcy.

During his meeting with Shah, Singh outlined measures taken by the state government to improve the situation. He also highlighted the resumption of the Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati bus service, which has provided relief to commuters.

Inter-state passenger bus services connecting Manipur, Assam and Nagaland resumed on August 21 after remaining suspended for more than three years.

The restoration of these services marks an important step towards improving connectivity and easing travel for residents across the three northeastern states.
