Liquor Policy Scam: CBI Opposes ​​AAP Leader Manish Sisodia’s Bail Plea, Hints At Arrest Of High-Profile People

Central investigating agency CBI has opposed the bail plea of ​​AAP leader Manish Sisodia in the alleged liquor policy scam of Delhi. According to news agency ANI, CBI told the court that some high-profile people may be arrested in the case. The investigation is going on now and Sisodia can hinder it. The next hearing of the case will be on March 22 in Rouse Avenue Court.

Actually, on 17 November 2021, the Kejriwal government had implemented the new liquor policy in Delhi. This policy soon came into controversy. CBI is investigating the alleged liquor scam of Delhi. In this case, ED is investigating money laundering. ED had recently arrested K Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana CM KCR. Earlier, former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and AAP MP Sanjay Singh were arrested by the Central Investigation Agency in this case.

What argument was given by Sisodia in the court?

Manish Sisodia’s petition was heard on Monday (18 March 2024). During this, CBI opposed his bail plea. On the other hand, the lawyer appearing on behalf of Sisodia claimed that the court proceedings are being delayed. In response to this, Supreme Court said that if the court proceedings proceed slowly then the accused can apply for bail in three months.

Proper procedure is being followed in probe say CBI

CBI said that the delay is not caused by the authorities, proper procedure is being followed and the investigation in this case is at a very critical stage. CBI said that Sisodia is the main accused and mastermind of the entire conspiracy and he has been confronted with sensitive documents and evidence which could be tampered by him as he had destroyed the phones on the same day the case was registered.

Sisodia’s curative petition rejected

Earlier, on March 14, the Supreme Court had rejected the curative petition of Sisodia. The AAP leader had filed a curative petition in the Supreme Court after his bail plea was rejected. This was rejected by the bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud.

AAP leader Satyendar Jain also got a blow

Earlier on Monday, AAP leader Satyendar Jain also got a blow from the Supreme Court. The court refused to grant bail to Satyendra Jain in the money laundering case. The court also canceled the interim bail given to Jain and asked him to surrender immediately.
