Rahul Gandhi Accuses PM Modi Of Manipulating His Words Regarding ‘Shakti’ Statement

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of distorting his statement regarding ‘Shakti,’ which has stirred significant controversy ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

“Modi ji dislikes my words, which is why he attempts to manipulate my statements and alter their meaning because he understands that I have spoken a profound truth,” Gandhi stated in a post on the social platform X that he articulated in Hindi.

Take a look:

During a rally at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park, Gandhi had referenced ‘Shakti’ to raise concerns about electronic voting machines (EVMs). He questioned, “There is a concept of ‘Shakti’ in Hinduism. We are up against a formidable force (might of the state). The question arises, what is this force and what implications does it hold for us? The essence and integrity of EVMs have been compromised to the ruler (Modi). This is a reality. It’s not just EVMs, but every independent institution in the country, whether it’s the ED, CBI, or Income Tax department, have surrendered their autonomy to the central government,” he expressed on the final day of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

On Monday, Gandhi defended his statement, asserting, “The ‘Shakti’ I referred to, against which we are fighting, is none other than Modiji. It is a force that has seized control of India’s voice, institutions, CBI, I-T department, ED, Election Commission, media, industries, and constitutional framework.”

“For this force, Narendra Modi writes off loans worth thousands of crores, while a farmer is driven to suicide over an inability to repay loans worth a few thousand rupees,” Gandhi remarked.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi criticized the INDIA alliance over Gandhi’s remarks stating that they declared that their fight is against Shakti. He further stated that for him, every daughter, mother, and sister embodies Shakti. “To those who are challenging Shakti, I accept your challenge. I am ready to sacrifice my life for Shakti,” he declared.
