Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya Dargah glowed with spiritual energy and the fragrance of devotion as the Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) hosted its annual ‘Jashn-e-Chiragh’ on the eve of Dhanteras.
The event turned the historic shrine into a beacon of faith, unity, and compassion, reinforcing India’s identity as a nation where spirituality and nationalism coexist harmoniously.
Devotees and dignitaries gathered amid lamps, Sufi melodies, and prayers, reflecting India’s pluralistic ethos.
The evening symbolised that the true essence of celebration lies in togetherness and shared peace.
MRM patron Indresh Kumar led the offering of a chadar at the dargah, praying for the nation’s prosperity. In his address, he called for a drug-free, riot-free, and eco-conscious India, urging citizens to adopt Taleem (education), Tahzeeb (culture), and Taraqqi (progress) as guiding principles.
Highlighting global conflicts in regions such as Israel-Palestine, Ukraine-Russia, and Sudan, he contrasted India’s philosophy of ahimsa (non-violence) with the world’s rising discord.
“This is the land of Buddha, Guru Nanak, and Gandhi, our strength lies in compassion and coexistence,” he said, calling India ‘the guiding light for global peace’.
Speakers, including Dr Shahid Akhtar, Acting Chairman of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions, and Dr Shalini Ali, MRM Women’s Wing Convener, underlined education, women’s empowerment, and cultural awareness as foundations for nation-building.
Dr Akhtar stressed that “Taleem, Tahzeeb, and Taraqqi are the real answers to hatred and violence,” while Dr Ali reminded that ‘true light shines from enlightened hearts, not just lamps’.
Custodians Afsar Nizami and Salmi Nizami praised the MRM for promoting harmony through faith, noting that “Sufi tradition and nationalism together strengthen India’s soul.”
The gathering ended with collective prayers for peace and mesmerising Qawwalis filling the Dargah.
In his concluding message, Indresh Kumar said, “India is not merely a nation but a civilisation, one that teaches the world love, dialogue, and dignity.”
The event closed with a collective dua, echoing the spirit of the evening: ‘Bharat First, Humanity Supreme’.
