Samosa Vendor Assaults Passenger After UPI Payment Fails At Jabalpur Station; Video Sparks Outrage

A shocking incident unfolded at Jabalpur Railway Station when a passenger was allegedly assaulted by a samosa vendor after a UPI transaction failed.

The video of the altercation, which quickly went viral on social media, shows the vendor grabbing the passenger by his collar and demanding payment before letting him board his train.

According to reports, the passenger had purchased samosas and attempted to make the payment via PhonePe. However, the transaction did not go through due to network issues.

As the train began to move, the passenger tried to return the food, but the vendor refused to accept it.

The viral clip captures the vendor accusing the traveller of ‘making excuses’ and ‘wasting time’ before physically confronting him.

The situation escalated to the point where the passenger, in desperation to catch his train, handed over his wristwatch as compensation.

A social media user who posted the video on X described it as a ‘shameful incident at Jabalpur Railway Station’, prompting widespread criticism of the vendor’s behaviour and concerns about passenger safety.

Authorities Intervene and Take Action

Following the viral outrage, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Jabalpur confirmed the incident took place on October 17. In response, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) identified and detained the vendor.

The RPF registered a case against the vendor, took him into custody, and began the process of cancelling his licence, the DRM stated.

In light of the incident, railway authorities have assured stricter oversight of station vendors to prevent similar occurrences. They also urged passengers to report any misconduct immediately through official helplines or social media handles.

The episode has reignited discussions about digital payment reliability and vendor accountability across India’s railway network.
