The Delhi High Court has rejected the petition filed demanding a ban on the Prime Minister from contesting any kind of election for 6 years. The court accepted that the petition has no merit. Delhi High Court rejected the petition and said that the present writ petition is completely wrong. The petitioner alleges that a violation happened. It is not acceptable for this Court to direct the Election Commission to adopt any particular approach. However, the Delhi High Court took note of the Election Commission’s statement that it would take action on the petition. During the hearing of the case, Justice Sachin Dutta asked the petitioner what is this transcript?

Petitioner Jondhale stated that the speech of respondent no. 2 (Modi). This is an explosive speech that can divide the country. The Election Commission said that the second speech is mentioned in the additional affidavit. This is the speech of 21st April. The Election Commission counsel further said that with regard to the April 21 speech (given by Modi in Rajasthan), we have already issued a notice.

The Election Commission said they will take action on this as per law. The Commission is a constitutional body. It has been claimed in the petition that on April 9, in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Modi had taken the help of religion to get votes.

The petition demanded action against PM Modi for violating the model code of conduct by seeking votes in the name of God and place of worship. The petition demanded disqualification of PM Modi from contesting elections for 6 years. The petitioner had said that during his speech, the PM appealed to the voters to vote for BJP in the name of Hindu deities and Hindu places of worship.
