The Rouse Avenue Court has extended the judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently detained in Tihar Jail in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam. The extension is valid until August 27. Kejriwal appeared in court via video conferencing, where the extension of his custody was confirmed.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a supplementary chargesheet against Kejriwal and five others. The chargesheet also names Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Durgesh Pathak, businessman P. Sharath Chandra Reddy, Vinod Chauhan, Ashish Mathur, and Amit Arora. The court is scheduled to hear the matter of taking cognizance of the CBI’s supplementary chargesheet on August 12. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has already filed its own chargesheet in the case.

Earlier, on July 12, the Supreme Court had granted interim bail to Kejriwal in relation to the ED case, but he remains in custody following his arrest by the CBI on June 26. The Rouse Avenue Court had previously extended Kejriwal’s judicial custody until August 8.
To date, 18 individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, including Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, AAP MP Sanjay Singh, and BRS leader K Kavita. Sanjay Singh has since been granted bail by the Supreme Court. Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21, after the Delhi High Court declined to provide protection from arrest.
