Delhi BJP Demands EC Probe Into AAP’s Crowdfunding Practices

The Delhi BJP plans to approach the Election Commission to verify the sources of funds claimed by AAP candidates through crowdfunding. The party alleges that these funds could be linked to forces inimical to India and demands full disclosure before elections.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva expressed concerns about the transparency of AAP’s funding practices. He stated, “AAP candidates may be raising funds from sources hostile to India. The Election Commission must ensure these sources are disclosed and verified.”

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri criticized AAP’s reliance on crowdfunding, calling it “laughable.” He questioned why the party needs crowdfunding, suggesting that funds from the alleged liquor scam might be depleted. “AAP misleads overseas Indians, takes money from inimical forces, and lives in sympathizers’ homes during elections, as seen in Punjab,” he said.

Sachdeva pointed out that AAP, which has contested elections since 2013, is now in its ninth election. He claimed that the sudden narrative of crowdfunding surprised Delhi residents. “The public wonders if this is a way to mask funds from the liquor scam or convert extorted money into political donations,” he remarked.

Allegations Link Crowd Funding To Previous Scandals

Sachdeva connected AAP’s crowdfunding claims to the liquor scam and the Goa election scandal. He highlighted that former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, accused of the liquor scam, allegedly funneled funds into the Goa elections. Durgesh Pathak and Chief Minister Atishi, both involved in AAP’s election campaigns, have also claimed to raise funds through crowdfunding.

The BJP has demanded stricter scrutiny of AAP’s financial activities, calling for the Election Commission to ensure transparency and accountability in election funding.
