After the successful completion of Paush Purnima and Makar Sankranti, the Yogi government has shifted its full focus to preparations for the Amrit Snan on Mauni Amavasya, scheduled for 29 January.
To strengthen arrangements, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh and Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar visited the Maha Kumbh area on Thursday, holding a high-level review meeting at the ICCC auditorium.
The Chief Secretary acknowledged the commendable arrangements during previous festivals but stressed the need for further refinement.
He highlighted the importance of preparing for the anticipated visit of the Prime Minister and a potential cabinet meeting.
Additionally, the Chief Secretary instructed that all preparations be completed promptly and directed sector magistrates, police, and departmental officers to ensure their presence across all sectors.
Key Directives From The Review Meeting
Focus On Mauni Amavasya Preparations
The Chief Secretary emphasized shifting focus to Mauni Amavasya after the successful organization of PausMaha Kumbh
h Purnima and Makar Sankranti. He noted the rare coincidence of these two festivals occurring together after 144 years, offering a unique dress rehearsal opportunity for upcoming events.
Railway Facilities
The Chief Secretary suggested improving signage to help devotees locate railway stations and access train details easily. Information about train availability, station directions, and distances to Sangam should also be displayed on digital screens.
Railways must ensure devotees can return via the same station they departed from, and special trains should begin operations early on Mauni Amavasya.
Telecom Services
Seamless telecom services are crucial during major bathing festivals. The Chief Secretary emphasized the robustness of telecom infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted phone connectivity for devotees.
Transport Arrangements
The Transport Department was instructed to operate additional buses from Prayagraj, especially focusing on services to Ayodhya. Clear communication must be provided to prevent crowds at closed stations and to guide devotees on where to board their buses.
Sturdy iron railings must be installed on all pontoon bridges without gaps. Additional signage should also be placed to assist devotees and enhance their experience.
Sanitation & Toilets
Adequate numbers of toilets and urinals must be installed at Sangam Nose, ensuring no complaints of overflow. VIP toilets are to be provided in the Akhara area, with all 1.5 lakh toilets installed by 20 January.
Drinking Water Facilities
Tap connections must be prioritized to ensure sufficient water availability in all establishments, including Judges Colony and Media Colony. The Irrigation Department was tasked with monitoring and maintaining water levels and purity at the ghats.
Security Measures
Adequate police presence across all locations, including the fair area, was emphasized. Police personnel must report on time to ensure seamless security measures.
These directives aim to ensure smooth operations, enhance the experience of devotees, and uphold safety and convenience during the Maha Kumbh’s Mauni Amavasya Amrit Snan.
