Indian Space Research Organisation has shared many images of moon shot by Chandrayaan-3 at a distance of 70kms. The photos were clicked by a camera which guides the lander in making soft landing on moon’s surface, the historic touchdown is due to take place tomorrow.
Taking to X(formerly known as twitter) ISRO tweeted, “The Mission Operations Complex (MOX) is buzzed with energy & excitement! The live telecast of the landing operations at MOX/ISTRAC begins at 17:20 Hrs. IST on August 23, 2023.”
Sharing the images of moon captured by Lander Position Detection Camera (LPDC), ISRO further explained its function. Space agency tweeted, “Here are the images of the moon captured by the Lander Position Detection Camera (LPDC) from an altitude of about 70 km, on August 19, 2023. LPDC images assist the Lander Module in determining its position (latitude and longitude) by matching them against an onboard moon reference map.”
Tomorrow at 6:04 pm the lander is expected to touchdown Moon’s South Pole region. Chandryaan-3 is India’s one of most ambitious project and if nothing wrong happens and landing successfully takes place, then after US, China and Russia India will become fourth country to achieve this milestone.
