BJP’s Jai Ram Thakur: “Bhupesh Baghel FUNDED assembly polls campaign in Himachal Pradesh from Mahadev app scam money”

On Monday, Jai Ram Thakur of the BJP stated that there are claims that Bhupesh Baghel, the former chief minister of Chhattisgarh, “funded” the Congress party’s campaign in the Himachal Pradesh assembly polls “from money received through the Mahadev app scam,” and he added that more research would uncover the truth.

The state’s chief opposition leader, Thakur, took aim at Baghel just one day after the Congressman was ousted as chief minister after the party lost to the BJP in the Chhattisgarh assembly elections.

“There are allegations that Bhupesh Baghel who was in-charge of Himachal Pradesh assembly elections held in November 2022 funded the Congress party from money received through Mahadev app scam and investigations would reveal the truth,” the former Himachal Pradesh chief minister told mediapersons here.

The Enforcement Directorate is keeping an eye on the Mahadev betting app for possible money laundering through hawala transactions between India and Dubai.

On November 3, the Enforcement Department (ED) stated that “allegations” had been made that Mahadev betting app promoters had paid Baghel approximately ₹ 508 crore based on forensic analysis and a statement from a “cash courier.”

An alleged ED courier later admitted in front of a special court that he had never given money to politicians and had been set up in a conspiracy.

According to Thakur, the Congress government in Chhattisgarh created a climate of scandal, which is why the BJP won the state.

“I have campaigned in all the four states. Chhattisgarh has become synonymous with corruption – coal scam, liquor scam, gobar (cow dung) scam and Mahadev aap scam. The people voted for BJP for better and corruption free governance,” he said.
