On Tuesday, the campaign for the opening phase of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections will come to a close at 5 PM, as political activity reaches its final stretch before polling day.
The first round of voting is set for 6 November, covering 121 Assembly seats across 18 districts of the state.
On the last day of outreach, major parties are holding rallies, street events, and public meetings to make a final pitch to voters.
With time running out, many candidates have shifted attention to door-to-door campaigns to strengthen personal contact with constituents.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) confirmed that all arrangements for the first phase have been completed.
Authorities said extensive security measures are in place to ensure an orderly and transparent election.
The Indo-Nepal border has been completely sealed to block any illegal movement or external interference.
Security personnel in border districts remain on high alert, and surveillance operations have been stepped up.
In total, 1,314 candidates are contesting this phase, including 1,192 men and 122 women.
Among the constituencies, 102 are open seats, while 19 are reserved for members of the Scheduled Castes.
Over 3.75 Crore Voters Eligible to Cast Ballot
According to ECI figures, 3,75,13,302 voters are eligible to cast their votes in this phase. This includes:
- 1,98,35,325 men,
 - 1,76,77,219 women, and
 - 758 third-gender voters

For the smooth conduct of polling, 45,341 stations have been established, 45,324 main booths and 17 auxiliary ones.
Out of these, 8,608 are located in towns and cities, while 36,733 are in rural areas.
The randomisation and distribution of EVMs and VVPATs have been completed, and detailed lists have been shared with all candidates and their agents to maintain transparency.
A three-layered security system will be in effect throughout the polling process.
Armed forces will guard each booth, and 1,049 checkpoints have been set up across the state to monitor vehicle movement and potential violations.
So far, 1,005 people have been detained in connection with various election-related offences.
This first phase is viewed as strategically important, as it covers politically active regions such as Patna division, Magadh, Tirhut, and Shahabad, which often play a defining role in shaping Bihar’s overall verdict.
The second phase of voting will take place on 11 November, and results will be declared on 14 November.
