On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat visited the Shri Ram Darbar Garbh Grah and Shri Ram Lalla, where they took part in prayers accompanied by Vedic chants.
Their visit came ahead of the Dhwajarohan Utsav, the ceremonial raising of the flag at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.
At the heart of the Ram Darbar stands an ornate depiction of Lord Ram in regal form. Beside him are Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughan, and Hanuman. Together, they create a richly detailed representation of the divine court.
PM Modi’s arrival in Ayodhya earlier in the day drew an enthusiastic reception. He was greeted at the Saket College helipad by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath before travelling towards the temple complex, where supporters lined the route for a vibrant roadshow.
Within the vast temple grounds, the Prime Minister also visited the Sapt Mandir.
This cluster of seven shrines honours:
- Maharishi Vashistha,
- Maharishi Vishwamitra,
- Maharishi Agastya,
- Maharishi Valmiki,
- Goddess Ahalya,
- Nishadraj Guha, and
- Mata Shabari
Their presence within the complex, however, serves as a tribute to the teachers, devotees, and companions who played defining roles in the life and journey of Lord Ram.
PM Modi continued his pilgrimage by offering prayers at the Sheshavtar Mandir and the Mata Annapurna Mandir.
At approximately midday, he will likely take part in the flag-hoisting ceremony. This event, however, marks the formal completion of the Ram Temple’s construction, the culmination of a major cultural and spiritual undertaking.
The ceremonial flag prepared for the temple measures 22 feet by 11 feet. It was, however, designed by a parachute specialist based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and weighs between 2 and 3 kilograms. Its construction allows it to withstand strong winds and high-altitude conditions.
The occasion represents another key moment in Ayodhya’s cultural revival.
Leaders have emphasised that the flag is more than a ritual object; it is intended to embody both religious devotion and the broader civilisational values that continue to shape India.
