Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat led the ‘Dhwajarohan Utsav’ at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple by hoisting the specially-designed sacred saffron flag atop the temple.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present during the ceremony.

Addressing the gathering from the temple premises, PM Modi said, “Today, the city of Ayodhya is witnessing another turning point in India’s cultural consciousness. The entire country and the world are filled with devotion for Lord Ram.”
He added, “Every Ram devotee’s heart is filled with immense satisfaction, gratitude and happiness. Sadiyo ke ghav bhar rahe hain (centuries-old wounds are healing today). The pain of centuries is coming to an end, and the resolve of centuries is achieving success. Today is the poornahuti (final offering) of the yagna whose fire has burned for 500 years — a yagna that never wavered in faith, even for a moment.”
Sacred Flag: Symbol of Devotion and Heritage
The specially-crafted flag measures 22 feet in length and 11 feet in width.
A parachute specialist from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, designed the flag, and it also weighs between 2 and 3 kilograms, engineered to withstand high-altitude winds.
The flag bears the Sun symbol, reflecting Lord Rama’s Suryavanshi heritage and divine radiance.
Moreover, the flag features the Kovidara tree, the Sun, and the sacred symbol Om, with its saffron colour symbolising fire, the rising Sun, sacrifice, and dedication.
PM Modi said, “This Dharma Dhwaj is not just a flag; it is a symbol of the renaissance of Indian civilisation. Its saffron colour, the holy word Om, and the Kovidar tree reflect the glory of Ramrajya. This Dhwaj embodies resolution, the success born from struggle, a dream realised, and devotion of saints combined with social participation.”
Message of Inspiration and Duty
“This Dharm Dhwaj will inspire the principle of Pran jaaye par vachan na jaaye (We will give our life to keep a promise), highlighting that karma and duty must take precedence. It reminds us to maintain peace and prosperity in society, ensuring that no one suffers or lives in poverty,” he added.
The event not only marks the ceremonial flag-hoisting but also signifies the completion of the Ram Temple construction — a historic milestone for devotees across India and the world.
PM Modi further highlighted the spiritual and cultural revival linked to the Ram Temple, emphasising that Ayodhya’s restoration will strengthen religious tourism, inspire devotion, and reinforce India’s civilisational values.
The event will serve as a reference point for generations celebrating faith, dedication, and cultural heritage.
