Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, witnesses heightened tensions after slogans and posters proclaiming ‘I Love Mohammad’ escalate into violence and property damage.
Speaking from Gram Anchauda Kamboh in Sambhal district, Shri Kalki Dham Peethadhishwar Acharya Pramod Krishnam expresses strong disapproval of the disturbances.
He emphasises that love for Prophet Muhammad should remain heartfelt and never serve as a pretext for street protests or violence.
“Love resides in the heart, not on the streets. This is India, not Taliban,” he stresses.
Acharya Krishnam voices stern criticism of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of inciting division.
He claims their comments following the Bareilly police action are part of a deliberate attempt to disrupt national unity.
“They seek to divide Hindus and Muslims and mislead the community into thinking the country does not belong to them,” he asserts, drawing parallels to historical missteps.
Support for Law Enforcement
The religious leader commends Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for maintaining discipline and law and order.
He warns that anyone causing disturbances will face strict action. “The police will not remain silent. Those who create chaos will pay the price,” he states, highlighting that respect for law transcends religious identity.
The police arrest local cleric Maulana Tauqeer Raja following the unrest. Acharya Krishna supports the action, reaffirming that the law applies equally to all citizens regardless of status.
Acharya Krishnam reiterates that demonstrating religious love does not require disruption of public peace. He stresses that Muslims, like all Indians, should express devotion without resorting to agitation. “We love Prophet Muhammad, but there is no need for protests. Keep the love in your hearts, not on the streets,” he adds.
Criticising past administrations, Acharya Krishnam asserts that earlier governments sometimes enabled extremist elements and rewarded their relatives politically.
He contrasts this with the current administration, praising Yogi Adityanath’s leadership for establishing a transparent rule of law that the world observes.
“Today, law prevails under Yogi Adityanath, and the results are visible,” he concludes, urging citizens to prioritise unity and lawful conduct.
