Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during a tribute meeting on Partition Memorial Day, emphasized the importance of remembering the dark chapters of history. He stated that history is not merely a subject of study but a tool to correct past mistakes and draw inspiration from glorious moments.
Partition Blamed on Congress’s Lust for Power
CM Yogi, speaking at the Lok Bhavan event, accused the Congress party of causing the tragedy of partition due to their desire for power. He argued that this division, which led to ongoing issues like terrorism, extremism, and separatism, could have been avoided if the political leadership at the time had shown determination. He claimed that Congress has consistently put the country at stake for power since 1947, leading to long-lasting consequences for the public.
India’s Potential and the Aftermath of Partition
Yogi Adityanath highlighted India’s strength, intelligence, and knowledge, which once positioned the country as a global leader. He lamented that by 1947, after continuous foreign invasions, India had transformed from the world’s richest nation to a poor country. The Chief Minister criticized the ongoing caste-based politics, comparing it to the divisive actions that led to the partition. He called for overcoming caste, regional, and linguistic divisions and urged the nation to work with the spirit of “nation first.”
The event also featured a short film depicting the horrors of Partition, illustrating the pain and suffering endured by the common people during that tragic time.
