On Wednesday, ten of the twelve Members of Parliament (MPs) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who had won the assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh resigned from their positions in the Lok Sabha.
The group of MPs led by BJP chief JP Nadda met with the Speaker to give their resignations.
Madhya Pradesh leaders Narendra Tomar, Prahlad Patel, Riti Pathak, Rakesh Singh and Uday Pratap Singh met the speaker. Arun Sao and Gomti Sai were the MPs from Chhattisgarh, while Rajyavardhan Rathore, Kirodi Lal Meena, and Diya Kumari were the MPs from Rajasthan who tendered their resignations.
BJP MP Prahlad Patel, won Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections from Narsingpur constituency, said, “After meeting BJP president JP Nadda, I have resigned as Lok Sabha MP. Soon, I will also resign from the Cabinet.”
Renuka Singh and Baba Balaknath have not yet submitted their resignations.
After defeating the Congress in all three states and securing a majority, the BJP is all set to rule in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.
But in Telangana, the old grand party triumphed after giving a fatal blow to K Chandrashekar Rao’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
The resignation letters of the chief ministers of Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan have been given to the governors of those states.
