An Era Comes To End As Pankaj Udhas Dies At 72 After Prolonged Illness

Renowned singer Pankaj Udhas, known for his mesmerizing ghazals and notable contributions to Hindi cinema, has passed away at the age of 72. The sad news was confirmed by his daughter, Nayaab Udhas, who shared a heartfelt statement on Instagram announcing his demise on Monday, February 26. Pankaj Udhas breathed his last at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital around 11 am after battling a prolonged illness, reportedly cancer, which he was diagnosed with a few months ago.

Following the news, the late singer’s loved ones and members of the industry flooded social media with heartfelt tributes. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted a condolence message on his official X, which was formerly Twitter, a while ago.

Pankaj Udhas carved a niche for himself in the world of music with his soul-stirring ghazals and memorable playback singing in Hindi films like “Naam,” “Saajan,” and “Mohra.” His melodious voice and emotive renditions endeared him to audiences across generations. His influence extended beyond his musical prowess, shaping the childhood memories of many, as noted by singer Sonu Nigam, who expressed deep sorrow over the loss on his official Instagram account.

The news of Pankaj Udhas’s passing reverberated across social media platforms, with an outpouring of condolences and reminiscences of his timeless melodies. Fans and admirers paid tribute to the legendary singer, expressing gratitude for the beauty he brought into their lives through his music.
