Anurag Kashyap says he cannot afford Alia Bhatt
Alia Bhatt has come a long way since making her acting debut in Bollywood with Student of the Year and her Hollywood breakthrough with Heart of Stone. The newlywed is currently living the good life after winning the Best Actress prize for Gangubai Kathiawadi at the 69th National Film Awards. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap was one of the numerous B-town celebrities who sent her congratulations on receiving the coveted prize. The director believes he cannot, however, ask Alia to collaborate with him.
Alia Bhatt was referred to as one of the top performers in the nation by the Gangs of Wasseypur director during an interview with Zoom Entertainment. He claimed that he always gets in touch with her when he appreciates her work but avoids doing so when he doesn’t.
The director went on to say that because his films are low-budget, he cannot afford to hire stars like Alia Bhatt. The director declared, “I consider Alia to be among the top actors in the nation, and I always get in touch with her after seeing her work. But when I disagree with something she has done, I remain silent. If it doesn’t compromise my film’s budget and dynamics, I would like to work with her, but it also needs to come from the other side.
In addition, the director claimed that any actor who hesitates to work with him instantly withdraws. “Wishful thinking is not something I support. I don’t pursue actors repeatedly. If they instruct me to change the script, I do it, but most of the time, their reluctance is enough to convince me to back out. You can tell right away on the screen if their heart isn’t in it, he continued.
Alia has delivered back-to-back hits following her remarkable performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi in 2022. She produced RRR in Telugu, Darlings, and Brahmstra: Part One: Shiva by Ayan Mukerji all in the same year. She appeared in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani this year with Ranveer Singh, and she made her international debut in the American movie Heart of Stone opposite Gal Gadot, Jamie Dornan, Sophie Okonedo, and Matthias Schweighöfer.
