The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Parwanoo Branch Office, organised a stakeholders conclave and MSME industry meet in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, on September 24 to promote quality standards, standardisation and certified products among industries.
Held at Hotel Sarovar Portico in Baddi, the programme brought together industrial licensees, non-licensees and industry representatives. Discussions focused on quality compliance, certification and the role of Indian Standards in supporting industrial development.
The programme also highlighted the theme for World Standards Day 2026, ‘Shared vision for a better world: Spotlight on SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy’. Speakers discussed the role of standards in promoting energy efficiency and sustainable industrial practices.
Chief guests included Ajay Verma, Vice President-cum-Mentor, MSME (BBNIA); Manoj Kumar Rajput, Joint Director and Head, CIPET Baddi; and Sunny, Deputy Director, SWCA Nalagarh.
From the BIS Parwanoo Branch Office, Director and Head Subhash Naik and Joint Director and Scientist-D Shubham Tiwari attended the event. They provided information on conformity assessment procedures, the Manak Online portal and Indian Standards, while addressing industry queries related to scope inclusions.
Speakers highlighted the importance of standardisation and quality compliance in strengthening industrial development and supporting economic growth. They also explained the benefits of adopting BIS standards and using certified products.
Officials said Indian Standards promote energy efficiency, resource conservation, waste reduction and eco-friendly manufacturing, supporting SDG 7.
Industry representatives discussed compliance issues and ways to further strengthen quality practices and adopt certified products.
The programme concluded with discussions on sustainable growth, quality compliance and wider adoption of Indian Standards.
