Census 2027: Prayagraj Intensifies Preparations For Population Enumeration, DM Seeks Public Cooperation

Prayagraj District Magistrate and Principal Census Officer Manish Verma congratulated residents, census officers, enumerators, supervisors and personnel on completing the first phase of Census 2027, covering houselisting and housing.

He said preparations had intensified for the second and crucial phase, Population Enumeration (PE), and called for active public participation.

The self-enumeration process will run from November 16 to 30, 2026, followed by door-to-door enumeration through the PE App from December 1 to January 4, 2027.

Officials will enumerate homeless persons and families from the evening of January 4 until midnight. The census reference date and time will be January 5, 2027, at 00:00 hours. Revision and correction work will take place from January 5 to 9.

Verma said accurate census data would help authorities plan services according to actual requirements.

The information will support decisions concerning schools and Anganwadi centres, hospitals, immunisation, maternal and child healthcare, employment and skill development schemes.

It will also guide housing and social security initiatives, alongside improvements in drinking water, roads, electricity, sanitation and transport.

Verma urged residents to complete self-enumeration through the authorised portal, se.census.gov.in, and preserve their SE ID.

Residents must cooperate with enumerators using the PE App and answer all 40 prescribed questions accurately. People will be counted at their actual place of residence or presence.

Students, tenants and people living in hostels, lodges and PG accommodation will be enumerated at their current residence. Authorities also urged cooperation in counting homeless people.

Verma assured residents that the Census Act, 1948, protects personal information. He appealed to elected representatives, teachers, youth, institutions, voluntary organisations and media personnel to spread awareness and ensure no household remains uncounted.
