Indian equity markets Sensex and Nifty ended sharply higher on Tuesday, extending their gains for the fourth consecutive trading session.

Investors welcomed strong corporate earnings and shifted away from global artificial intelligence-linked trades facing recent pressure.

The Sensex jumped 1,225.07 points, or 1.62 per cent, to close at 76,917.85. Meanwhile, the Nifty gained 370.05 points, or 1.58 per cent, to settle at 23,810.85.

BSE, Nestle India and Tata Consumer Products led the Nifty gainers.

The broader market also finished in positive territory. The Nifty Midcap 100 rose 1.06 per cent, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 advanced 0.31 per cent.

The FMCG sector led the rally, with its index climbing nearly 3 per cent. Investors showed confidence in consumer goods companies amid optimism about earnings and demand.

However, the Nifty PSU Bank index emerged as the session’s worst-performing sector.

Market sentiment received support from encouraging quarterly results, stable domestic economic conditions and shifting global investment flows.

Analysts described the market recovery as encouraging but warned that the Nifty could face resistance between 23,800 and 23,900.

They identified 23,200–23,500 as an immediate support range if markets experience a pullback.

Experts also recommended focusing on relatively strong stocks and managing overnight risks amid global uncertainties.

The rupee gained around 0.15 per cent to trade at 94.74 against the dollar. Cooling commodity prices eased concerns about India’s import bill and supported the currency.

Analysts said commodity prices, global dollar movements and foreign fund flows would shape the rupee’s outlook, while potential capital inflows could provide further support.
