Bihar witnessed a 47.62 per cent voter turnout in the second phase of Assembly elections 2025 as of 1 PM in the afternoon.

According to the Election Commission of India, voter turnout in the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections reached 47.62 per cent by 1 PM.

Kishanganj recorded the highest turnout at 51.86 per cent, followed closely by Gaya at 50.95 per cent, Jamui at 50.91 per cent, and Banka at 50.07 per cent.

Madhubani continued to record the lowest participation at 43.39 per cent.

Other districts saw healthy turnout figures, including 46.87 per cent in Araria, 47.11 per cent in Arwal, 49.45 per cent in Aurangabad, 45.09 per cent in Bhagalpur, 46.07 per cent in Jahanabad, 49.89 per cent in Kaimur (Bhabua), 48.50 per cent in Katihar, 43.45 per cent in Nawada, 48.91 per cent in Paschim Champaran, 49.63 per cent in Purnia, and 48.01 per cent in Purvi Champaran. Rohtas recorded 45.19 per cent, Sheohar 48.23 per cent, Sitamarhi 45.28 per cent, and Supaul 48.22 per cent.

Key Constituencies and Ministerial Contests

Among prominent constituencies, Mohania saw 50.97 per cent turnout, Chainpur 51.05 per cent, Dhamdaha 50.16 per cent, Kutumba 49.68 per cent, Supaul 47.66 per cent, Gaya Town 39.09 per cent, Harsiddhi 46.62 per cent, and Jhanjharpur 40.63 per cent.

The second phase will further determine the fate of 12 ministers from CM Nitish Kumar’s cabinet.

JD(U) ministers Vijendra Yadav, Lesi Singh, Jayant Kushwaha, Sumit Singh, Mohammad Jama Khan, and Sheela Mandal are in the fray, alongside BJP ministers Prem Kumar, Renu Devi, Vijay Kumar Mandal, Nitish Mishra, Neeraj Bablu, and Krishnanandan Paswan.

Other key constituencies include Sasaram, Imamganj, Bihpur, Gopalpur, Pirpainti, Bhagalpur, Sultanganj, and Nathnagar.

Bihar Congress president and Kutumba candidate Rajesh Ram cast his vote in an e-rickshaw alongside his family, urging peaceful participation in the democratic process.

BJP leader Ashwini Kumar Choubey projected a decisive NDA victory, expecting over 180 seats, while Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal praised increased voter participation and reaffirmed confidence in the ruling alliance.

Voting and Security Arrangements

Voting is ongoing across 122 constituencies in 20 districts amid tight security measures.

However, the first phase of the Bihar elections saw a record 65.08 per cent polling, marking the highest in the state’s history.

Counting of votes for the second phase is scheduled for November 14, which will provide clarity on the political landscape and determine the mandate for the NDA, Mahagathbandhan, and other contesting parties.
