The Yogi government is transforming Prayagraj’s Civil Airport for Maha Kumbh 2025 by installing 84 illuminated light pillars. The project, with a budget of ₹21 crores, aims to blend mythology with modernity and enhance the city’s spiritual ambiance.
Pillars Symbolize 8.4 Million Life Forms
The 84 pillars symbolize the 8.4 million life forms believed to exist in the universe, according to Hindu mythology. Each 6-meter tall pillar will be inscribed with the thousand sacred names of Lord Shiva. The pillars will span 525 meters outside the airport, installed by the Construction and Design Division of Jal Nigam.
Completion by November
CNDS Project Manager Rohit Kumar Rana stated the project is progressing on schedule, with the first installment of ₹10 crores already released. The pillars, set 12 meters apart, will be completed by November. Special lighting, ornamental plants, and benches will create a welcoming atmosphere for visitors, adding to the city’s religious and cultural significance.
