In the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, the army killed two terrorists and a CRPF trooper in an operation. Informing about the operation against hiding terrorists, ADGP, Jammu Zone, Anand Jain said that the encounter started on Tuesday evening and lasted till Wednesday afternoon.
“Initially one terrorist was killed yesterday (Tuesday) and one more has been killed today (Wednesday). We also lost a CRPF jawan in the gunfight as well. The slain were part of a newly infiltrated group. We have not called off the operation as there may be some more terrorists hiding in the area,” ADGP added on the matter.
The CRPF trooper Constable Kabir Dass succumbed to his injuries in a hospital. He was associated with the 121 Battalion.
About the condition of the injured civilian, ADGP said, “The civilian injured in the encounter is stable and out of danger.”
The incident happened in the Kathua village of Seda Sohal in the Hiranagar district. Jain claimed that two terrorists had entered the area and were requesting water from various homes.
“As soon as the information was received, the teams of the SHO and the SDPO reached the spot and one of the terrorists was killed in the exchange of fire.”
Army officials recovered Grenades, IEDs, a US-made M4 carbine and other war-like items from the slain terrorists.
However, two senior officers escaped safely after hiding terrorists opened fire on them in the Hiranagar area.
As per the information, more than 20 rounds were fired by terrorists. DIG, Jammu-Kathua-Samba Range, Dr Sunil Kumar, and SSP, Kathua, Anayat Choudhary were together in a vehicle.
ADGP also informed about another encounter held at the Chattergalla area of Doda district. He said that the operation in Chattergalla is underway and injured security personnel are stable.
