President Joe Biden has fiercely rebuked his predecessor and potential Republican presidential contender, Donald Trump, for deriding fellow party candidate Nikki Haley’s husband. Biden criticized Trump’s disrespect for the military, stating, “This guy wouldn’t know service to his country if it slapped him in the face.”
Taking to his official platform, Biden emphasized Major Haley’s ongoing service abroad, countering Trump’s insinuations. He affirmed, “The answer is that Major Haley is abroad, serving his country right now. We know he thinks our troops are ‘suckers,’ but this guy wouldn’t know service to his country if it slapped him in the face.”

Biden’s response follows Trump’s remarks at a Saturday rally in Haley’s state, where he questioned the whereabouts of her husband. Haley’s spouse, Major Michael Haley, has been deployed in Africa with the South Carolina Army National Guard since June of the previous year.
Haley herself took to social media to defend her husband’s service, asserting, “Michael is deployed serving our country, something you know nothing about.” She emphasized the importance of mutual support in their relationship, noting, “We have both lived a life of service and so when he goes off to deploy, my support is completely with him.”

The couple’s enduring commitment to each other and their shared dedication to service have been evident throughout their more than 25 years together. Major Haley’s deployments have been a constant in their lives, with Nikki Haley often highlighting her husband’s military service during her political career.
Their relationship underscores the sacrifices made by military families, a point Haley emphasized in her criticism of Trump. As Haley navigates her political aspirations, she and her husband continue to stand by each other, united in their commitment to serving their country.
