Top UK Leaders Back India’s Zero Tolerance Against Terrorism

An all-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad concluded a series of significant engagements in London, underscoring India’s unwavering stance of zero tolerance towards terrorism.

The visit forms part of India’s global diplomatic outreach aimed at highlighting ‘Operation Sindoor’, India’s recent intensified counter-terrorism campaign, and fostering deeper collaboration with the UK on security and strategic issues.

During the three-day visit, the delegation interacted with a broad spectrum of UK stakeholders, including government ministers, parliamentary members, political party leaders, influential think tanks, and India friendship groups.

These meetings reinforced shared commitments to global justice, security, and a strategic partnership anchored on mutual interests.

Engagements With UK Ministers & Parliamentarians

One key engagement took place at the British Parliament, where the delegation met UK Minister for Citizenship and Migration Seema Malhotra.

The Indian MPs briefed her on India’s resolve to combat terrorism and shared details of ‘Operation Sindoor’.

This was followed by interactions with several Labour Party India Friendship Groups, such as Labour Friends of India, Sikhs for Labour, and Hindus for Labour, all of whom voiced strong solidarity with India’s fight against terrorism.

The Labour groups emphasised the importance of dismantling terror infrastructure worldwide and combating terror financing decisively.

They acknowledged that terrorism is a shared threat that transcends national borders, impacting countries including the UK.

Both sides agreed to continue dialogue to foster mutual understanding and enhance cooperation between the Labour Party and India.

The delegation also met with senior leaders at the Conservative Campaign Headquarters, including Co-Chair Dominic Johnson and Conservative Friends of India Co-Chair Koolesh Shah.

These interactions underlined robust support for India’s anti-terrorism efforts and acknowledged the vital role of the Indian diaspora in strengthening UK-India ties.

Earlier, the delegation held discussions with UK-based think tanks focused on the threat of cross-border terrorism and the strategic significance of ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Ravi Shankar Prasad shared insights on India’s firm stance against state-sponsored terrorism, highlighting the country’s balanced approach of peace coupled with decisive action to safeguard citizens.

“Today, alongside my esteemed colleagues, I had the privilege of engaging with leading think tanks to share India’s zero tolerance policy towards terrorism. We explained the ‘new normal’ India has set in countering state-sponsored terror,” Prasad posted on X (formerly Twitter).

He also underscored India’s rapid economic growth and emergence as a global manufacturing hub, emphasising that terrorism and trade cannot coexist.

Reaffirmation Of Shared Commitment

Further engagements included a meeting with Catherine West, UK Minister for the Indo-Pacific, who reiterated the UK government’s condemnation of terror attacks in India and expressed strong support for India’s security and economic initiatives.

West emphasised the UK’s belief that all terror perpetrators must be brought to justice and called for global cooperation to eradicate terrorism.

The delegation’s final day concluded with a dinner discussion involving UK thought leaders, focusing on the global threat of terrorism, its social impact, and rising radicalisation.

The event fostered a deeper understanding of the shared challenges facing both nations.

The nine-member delegation represented a wide political spectrum, including BJP MPs Ravi Shankar Prasad, Daggubati Purandeswari, Ghulam Ali Khatana, Samik Bhattacharya; Shiv Sena’s Priyanka Chaturvedi; Congress’s Amar Singh; AIADMK’s M Thambidurai; former Union Minister MJ Akbar; and former Ambassador Pankaj Saran.

After visiting France, Italy, and Denmark, the delegation’s London leg marks a vital part of India’s ongoing global campaign to highlight ‘Operation Sindoor’ and counter Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
