Pentagon: United States Provides $500 Million In Further Military Aid To Ukraine

The Pentagon announced on Tuesday that the United States will offer Kyiv a fresh military package worth up to $500 million as a show of solidarity for Ukraine’s fight against Russia as Moscow deals with the fallout from a mercenary fighters mutiny.

According to a statement from the Pentagon, the package will include ground vehicles like Bradley fighting vehicles and Stryker armored personnel carriers, as well as missiles for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems

“The package includes key capabilities to support Ukraine’s counteroffensive operations, strengthen its air defences, and other equipment to help Ukraine push back against Russia’s war of aggression”, the Pentagon continued.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky tweeted, “I am sincerely grateful to @POTUS and all 🇺🇸 people for another $500 million defense assistance package. Additional Bradley and Stryker armored vehicles, and ammunition for HIMARS, Patriots, and Stingers will add even more power to the 🇺🇦 Defense Forces. Each package of such assistance is a step towards our common victory over the 🇷🇺 aggressor”, through his official Twitter handle.

Russia’s embassy in the United States stated on its Telegram that the assistance only confirms Washington’s obsession with the idea of inflicting a strategic defeat on the Russian Federation.

The package is being paid for through Presidential Drawdown Authority, or PDA, which allows the president to transfer items and services from US inventories without congressional approval during an emergency. The material will be sourced from excess inventory in the United States.

The security assistance package is the 41st approved by the United States for Ukraine since the Russian incursion in February 2022, totaling more than $40 billion.
