“We will decisively alter history and employ all of our formidable power to eliminate any aggressors who attempt to use force against our nation,” Kim was quoted as saying by KCNA.

Kim reiterated his stance of refusing dialogue or negotiations with South Korea, labeling it as the country’s “number one enemy.” He emphasized that maintaining a strong military posture is crucial for North Korea’s peace and security, as reported by KCNA.

At the close of 2023, Kim announced at a significant ruling party meeting that peaceful reunification with South Korea was unattainable, signaling a significant shift in how the country approaches its relations with Seoul.

Kim’s visit to the defense ministry reportedly included the presence of his “respected daughter,” indicating the potential future involvement of his daughter Ju Ae in the country’s leadership, as noted by analysts.

While North Korea traditionally marks the founding of its military on February 8th, there was no mention of a large-scale military parade this year in state media reports. However, Kim participated in an honor guard parade at the defense ministry and attended a banquet with military officials and soldiers to commemorate the occasion.
