Oketz, the Israel military Force’s canine squad, was credited with assisting in the rescue of 200 Israelis while killing 10 Hamas militants at Kibbutz Be’eri.
A related incident at Kibbutz Kfar Aza, however, had a more disastrous consequence.
Nauru, a dog sent to find terrorists and weapons, attacked three terrorists, revealing their location. The terrorists were slain by IDF soldiers, but Nauru was killed during the hours of battle. The troops took Nauru’s body to be buried.
“The next step is to enter the Gaza Strip”, the leader of the Oketz unit ordered his soldiers.
“The mission is to kill all the terrorists who will be in front of us in the field. We are true, we are strong, we are united, and we are going to win”, he added.
