Israel has announced it will send a delegation of senior security officials to Qatar next week to discuss a potential Gaza ceasefire deal. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that representatives from Mossad, Shin Bet, and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will participate in the negotiations. The talks aim to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas and address ongoing tensions in the Gaza Strip.

The discussions, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, have been ongoing for over a year. Earlier this week, Hamas proposed a one-week ceasefire to locate hostages and provide a list of those who could be released. Israel has not officially responded to this proposal.

Israel Threatens Intensified Military Action

On Wednesday, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz warned Hamas to agree to a hostage release deal soon. He stated that failure to comply would result in unprecedented military actions in Gaza.

Katz emphasized that Israel’s military would escalate operations against Hamas strongholds until all hostages are freed. Echoing this stance, Israeli officials insist on the right to resume military action if security threats arise.

Hamas has sought to extend the truce, linking it to the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. However, Israel has rejected this demand, citing the need for a continued military presence to ensure security.

While the prospect of a ceasefire remains uncertain, the delegation’s visit to Doha reflects Israel’s commitment to pursuing diplomatic efforts alongside military strategies to address the crisis.
