Mass Shooting

A mass shooting occurred at Amazura nightclub in Queens, New York, on January 1. At least 11 people were injured when gunfire erupted near the venue at 11:20 pm. Authorities responded swiftly, establishing a large crime scene. The shooting took place at 91-12 144th Place, within the 103rd Precinct’s jurisdiction. Amazura nightclub, which hosts DJs and live performances, has a capacity of 4,000 people.

The NYPD deployed several units to the scene. They discovered multiple shell casings on the ground, marking additional crime scenes at the intersection of 91 Avenue and 144th Place. Police shut down nearby roads, including Sutphin Boulevard, as they investigated further. The investigation is ongoing. This shooting is the third violent incident in the United States within 24 hours.

Terrorism Investigations In Progress

The Queens nightclub shooting follows two major violent incidents. On New Year’s Day, a man intentionally drove a truck into a crowd in New Orleans’ French Quarter, killing 15 people. At least 35 others sustained injuries. Authorities are investigating that attack as a possible terrorist act. On January 1, a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump Las Vegas Hotel, killing one person. Investigators are also probing this as a potential terrorist incident.

The FBI is handling all investigations. Law enforcement authorities are examining whether the New Orleans attack, the Tesla explosion, and the shooting in Queens are connected. The suspect in the New Orleans incident, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, allegedly flew a black ISIS flag from his truck.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell condemned the attack, while President Joe Biden offered federal assistance. He expressed condolences to the victims and their families. President-elect Donald Trump also shared his sympathies, praising the bravery of first responders.
