Israel Strikes Gaza While World Awaits Response To Iran’s Attack

Tehran has claimed the attack on Israel was an act of self-defence following the Damascus strike that killed seven Revolutionary Guards including two generals

Gaza

Israel bombarded war-torn Gaza overnight, Hamas and witnesses reported Monday, as International leaders urged de-escalation while awaiting Israel’s reaction to Iran’s unprecedented attack, which heightened concerns of further violence.

World powers have urged patience after Iran launched over 300 drones and missiles at Israel late Saturday, though the Israeli military claims nearly all were intercepted.

Tehran’s first direct attack on Israel, in retaliation for a fatal April 1 strike on its Damascus consulate, came after months of regional warfare involving Iranian proxies and allies who claim to be supporting Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with his military cabinet on Sunday, but no decision has been reached on how or when Israel will respond to Iran’s attack.

Tensions in Iran weaken the regime and rather serve Israel, according to Israel Hayom, implying that Israeli leaders would not rush to retaliate.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has warned that a reckless Israeli strike will result in a much stronger response, while foreign ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanani stated Monday that Western nations should appreciate Iran’s restraint in recent months.
