Overnight bombings on the Gaza Strip killed at least 55 Palestinians, the Hamas government reported on Sunday, as Israel announced an increase in strikes.
“More than 55 martyrs”, the government press office claimed in a statement following the latest night of bombardment in response to the Hamas strikes on Israel on October 7.
It went on to say that more than 30 homes had been torn down in the hours following the announcement by an Israeli military spokesman that raids would be increased.
The Hamas government claims that more than 4,300 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in Israeli raids since the war began, in response to Israel’s bloodiest attacks, which killed 1,400 people.
Tens of thousands of Israeli troops have gathered around Gaza in preparation for a widely anticipated ground invasion. It claims that its daily raids have already killed a large number of Hamas leaders and military commanders.
Late Saturday, an Israeli military spokesperson stated, “From today, we are increasing the strikes and minimizing the danger”.
“We will increase the attacks and therefore I called on Gaza City residents to continue moving south for their safety”, the spokesperson added.
Continuously, Israel has been urging 1.1 million people in the north of Gaza to move south ahead of any ground operation.
Despite the entrance of 20 trucks into the Palestinian territory on Saturday, the Hamas government lamented the paucity of aid. According to the report, the enclave now has 1.4 million displaced persons.
“The aid that arrived in Gaza is not enough for one day. We call on the international community to pressure the Israeli government to bring in thousands of trucks”, the statement reads.
