Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei Calls For Balanced View On Israel’s Airstrikes Following Heightened Tensions

Amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged for a nuanced perspective on Israel’s recent airstrikes.

Khamenei cautioned against both exaggerating the attacks and downplaying their significance, addressing the complex balance in Iran’s response to military provocations.

CNN reported, that Israel may aim to highlight the effects of its actions against Iran, Khamenei stated on Sunday.

However, he added, Iran should not underestimate the significance of these strikes.

Khamenei further emphasized that Israel’s calculations about Iran’s capabilities are fundamentally flawed.

Iran’s Supreme Leader asserted, “They’re making a miscalculation concerning Iran.”

“They still haven’t been able to correctly understand the power, capability, ingenuity, and determination of the Iranian people. We need to make them understand these things,” he further added.

Khamenei further criticized those who suggest Iran should limit its military capabilities to avoid backlash, describing this approach as detrimental to national security.

“Keeping a country weak does not maintain its security,” he said, dismissing the notion that restraint would ensure peace.

Khamenei: Israel Miscalculates Iran’s Strength Amid Gaza Conflict

In his remarks, Khamenei also condemned Israel’s ongoing offensive in Gaza, as well as the global community’s lack of response.

He said, “War operates within a framework of rules, laws, and limitations. These limitations can’t just be disregarded during a war. However, the criminal gang ruling over the occupied lands has trampled all boundaries and rules underfoot.”

Both Israeli and Iranian officials took calculated stances over the weekend, carefully crafting their initial public responses after Israel launched airstrikes in retaliation for a recent missile attack from Tehran.

An Israeli government source stated that the country aimed for a relatively subdued response to encourage Iran to react in a similarly low-key manner, helping both sides avoid escalating the situation further.

Iran’s official response acknowledged limited damage to military sites while confirming the loss of four soldiers.

Iranian authorities characterized the impact of the strikes as minimal, appearing to downplay the significance of the event while underscoring their resilience and resolve in the face of ongoing tensions.
