CMD and Editor-in-Chief of Bharat Express News Network, Upendrra Rai, received a grand welcome at a tribute ceremony commemorating the death anniversary of freedom fighter Babu Genda Singh.
During the celebrations, an elephant adorned with a garland honoured Rai, while a large gathering of locals witnessed the spectacle at The Golden Resort, Kasya.
Local social organisations and regional representatives organised the event to mark the annual remembrance of Babu Genda Singh, whom people in Kushinagar and across the Purvanchal region celebrate as a frontline warrior of India’s freedom struggle.
Babu Genda Singh was a former minister and MP who championed social justice and rural development in both Parliament and the state government.
His contributions to society continue to inspire generations, and annual commemorations attract a large number of participants eager to pay tribute.
This year’s ceremony also recognised families of local freedom fighters, social workers, and individuals who have made notable contributions across various fields.
Organisers emphasised that the event serves not only as a homage but also as a medium to motivate the younger generation to uphold the values exemplified by the nation’s freedom fighters.
CMD Upendrra Rai, known for his principled journalism and outspoken views on national issues, was the chief guest.
His presence highlighted the importance of social responsibility and civic engagement, while also celebrating the historical legacy of Babu Genda Singh.
Organisers appealed to the residents of Kushinagar to attend in large numbers, framing the tribute as an opportunity to recognise those who have significantly contributed to society and nation-building.
The ceremony is seen as a crucial effort to foster social unity and preserve the region’s rich historical heritage.
