Iran Launches New Missile Attacks On Israel As Regional Turmoil Escalates

Israel-Iran Tensions: Early Saturday, tensions in the Middle East surged once again as Iran initiated another round of missile strikes on Israeli territory, according to Iranian state media.

This escalation follows an already volatile period marked by intense hostilities between the two countries.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) acknowledged the attack, confirming that a new wave of projectiles had been launched toward Israel.

In a short statement, the military stated, “Another barrage has been fired towards Israel,” though they did not immediately release information on the number of missiles or the specific sites affected.

In central Israel, emergency services responded swiftly after a missile reportedly hit near residential zones, injuring at least 10 civilians.

Medical teams arrived quickly to provide aid and evaluate the damage.

The Israeli government responded by raising its alert level, advising residents in several areas to remain in secure shelters.

Meanwhile, the United States stepped in to support Israel’s air defences.

Two American officials, speaking anonymously, said US forces had intercepted multiple missiles heading toward Israel. They did not provide details on how the interceptions were carried out—whether by aircraft, missile batteries, or naval systems.

Earlier, nearly 100 missiles were fired from Iran into northern and central Israel in two intense barrages.

The attacks caused significant destruction and left 41 people injured, according to the IDF and Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA).

Casualty details released by MDA

The MDA reported that two individuals were critically wounded. Two others sustained moderate injuries. Four people were hurt with light to moderate wounds. Several others suffered minor physical harm or psychological distress, including panic attacks.

As the missiles rained down, air-raid sirens echoed across the country, forcing millions to seek refuge in safe rooms and shelters for over an hour.

IDF spokesperson Effie Defrin stated that many of the missiles were intercepted or failed to reach their intended targets.

He further added that most injuries occurred indoors and were often the result of shrapnel from intercepted missiles.
