CJI BR Gavai Visits Alma Mater In Mumbai; Shares Emotional Moments With Students

Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai arrived in Mumbai for a three-day official visit, where he is scheduled to attend various events and public engagements across the city.

The visit holds personal significance as it includes stops at locations connected to his formative years.

CJI Gavai’s emotional return to Holy Name High School

On the first day of his visit, CJI Gavai made an emotional return to his alma mater, Holy Name High School in Colaba, South Mumbai.

It was at this very institution that he began his academic journey as a student.

The school, proud of its distinguished alumnus, gave him a warm and grand welcome. Teachers, staff, and students gathered in large numbers to honour his achievements and celebrate his inspiring journey from the school’s benches to the highest judicial post in the country.

CJI Gavai interacted with students

During his visit, CJI Gavai engaged in an interactive session with the students, where he responded to their questions with humility and warmth.

He shared insights about his life, the challenges he faced, and the principles that guided him.

Emphasising the importance of perseverance and discipline, he encouraged students to stay committed to their goals.

“I am here today because of the values instilled in me by my parents,” he said.

“Their unwavering support and sacrifices have played the biggest role in my life.” He added that success demands focus, dedication, and sincere effort — qualities every student should strive for.

A tribute to his father’s dream

In a deeply emotional moment, CJI Gavai revealed that becoming the Chief Justice of India was not only his dream but his father’s lifelong aspiration.

“Fulfilling that dream is the proudest achievement of my life,” he shared, inspiring students to dream big and honour their roots.

The school hosted a special celebration to mark the occasion, including a cake-cutting ceremony.

The school felicitated both CJI Gavai and his sister for their achievements.

Students watched with pride and nostalgia as one of their own returned to where his journey began.
