An Indian all-party parliamentary delegation, led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, conveyed a firm message of zero tolerance against terrorism during their diplomatic visit to Latvia.
The delegation emphasised that nuclear threats will not deter India’s resolve and that any act of terrorism will be treated as an assault on national security.
India’s Message: Terrorism Will Not Be Tolerated
The delegation met with Latvian Parliamentarians, including Ingrida Circene, Chairperson of the Group for Promoting Cooperation with the Parliament of India, and Inara Murniece, Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Saeima.
During the discussions, the Indian representatives conveyed the nation’s united stance against terrorism and shared details of India’s evolving counter-terrorism doctrine.

Latvian Parliament Expresses Solidarity With India Against Terrorism
Latvian leaders condemned the April terror attack in Pahalgam and reaffirmed their opposition to terrorism in all forms.
State Secretary Andzejs Vilumson and Ambassador Andrejs Pildegovics, Special Envoy for Latvia’s UNSC candidacy, met the delegation and expressed appreciation for India’s strong counter-terrorism posture.
The Latvian side acknowledged India’s role as a major player in the Indo-Pacific region and expressed gratitude for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ukraine in 2024.
Delegation Highlights India’s New Anti-Terror Doctrine
The Indian delegation briefed Latvian officials on Operation Sindoor and the developments following the Pahalgam terrorist attack. They explained India’s new national doctrine that targets both terrorists and their supporters.
The message emphasised India’s readiness to respond with strength, regardless of the threat, including nuclear intimidation.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties Against Terrorism
India’s Ambassador to Latvia, Namrata S Kumar, welcomed the delegation at Riga International Airport and briefed them on India-Latvia relations, Latvia’s role in the EU and UN, and developments in the Baltic.
The delegation’s visit marks the first high-level Indian engagement with Latvia since the opening of India’s new resident mission in Riga in July 2024.
The embassy described the visit as a testament to deepening bilateral ties and India’s resolve to collaborate with like-minded nations in the global fight against terrorism.
Global Anti-Terror Campaign Continues
The Latvian visit is part of India’s broader diplomatic campaign to highlight Operation Sindoor and counter Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism.
Prior to Latvia, the delegation held successful engagements in Greece, Slovenia, and Russia, reinforcing India’s global outreach and unwavering stand against terrorism in all its forms.
