UK Woman Suffering From Peanut Allergy Buys All Peanut Packets On Board; Yet She Is Not Insane!

Imagine you are allergic to something but instead of staying away from it, you buy it in huge amount. Insane! It seems. But Leah William, a 27 year old woman had to do the same since she was not left with any other choice. She actually bought all the packets of peanut on board while flying from Germany to London. The astonishing point in this story is that the woman is suffering from peanut allergy. Ms. Williams purchased all 48 packs of nuts onboard for 144 Euros (about 13,088).

Why did she do so?

As per the information, she did the same as the cabin crew refused to stop their circulation on the flight. A report claims that the price of peanuts was nearly three times as expensive as the 50 euros she spent on her travel.

The Hampshire employee from a design firm didn’t want anyone to open a bag of peanuts while she was on the airplane. The media site claims that Ms. Williams previously developed hives after someone on a plane opened a bag of peanuts close to her. This time, she was not willing to take any chances.

The airline should be ashamed of how they handled the incident, Ms. Williams told the reporters, and she is now asking for a refund for the nuts she bought onboard.

“She was not forced to buy all the peanuts,” says airline taking about the woman with peanut allergy

A Eurowings spokesperson told the media, “We are very sorry that the flight with us did not go as smoothly as planned and we regret any inconvenience this has caused Leah Williams. One thing in advance: Leah Williams was not forced to buy all packages of peanuts on board – on the contrary, our purser tried to offer her an alternative solution by informing all passengers sitting around her about Leah’s allergy. She agreed at first but then decided to still buy all the packages.”

The airline said that because some passengers bring their own food onboard, it was impossible for it to guarantee that the aircraft was devoid of things that could cause allergic reactions, such peanuts.

“As there are many causes for allergies and intolerances, it is not possible to exclude the possibility of their presence on board a plane,” the spokesperson added. “Furthermore, due to its construction (shape, air conditioning system, ventilation, etc.), it is not possible to prevent an accumulation of peanut/nut traces (e.g. residues from an earlier flight) despite regular and thorough cleaning of the aircraft.”

Prevention notice issued by airline

The airline has advised customers to bring their allergy medication in their carry-on luggage and to alert the cabin crew ahead of time. “Our medically trained cabin crew always has access to medication to provide emergency medical care in the event of an intolerance or allergic shock on board,” the spokesperson said.
