After seeing a €2(which accounts for INR 180) charge for slicing a sandwich in half on his restaurant bill, a British traveler was shocked. The event took place while the unidentified guest was having dinner at Bar Pace in Gera Lario, Italy, near the well-known vacation destination Lake Como. A “diviso da meta” or “cutting in half” charge of €2 for his toasted sandwich appeared when he took a look at his receipt.
Following a vacation in June, the traveler posted the receipt on Tripadvisor and labeled it “incredible but true.” “There were two of us and we asked for a toasted sandwich to share at the table,” he wrote on the reviews site.
“We have to pay because the toast was cut in half?” According to the receipt, the disputed sandwich-cutting fee cost more than a cup of espresso and increased the sandwich’s overall price from €7.50 to €9.50.

“Additional requests have a cost,” owner Cristina Biacchi told an Italian newspaper.
“We had to use two plates instead of one and the time to wash them is doubled, and then two placemats. It wasn’t a simple toasted sandwich, there were also French fries inside. It took us time to cut it in two,” explained the owner
The customer in the problem raised no complaints at the time, and if questioned, the charge would have been removed from the account, the speaker continued.

It’s not the first time foreign visitors to Italy have criticized the cost of a lunch.
Two dishes of pasta and fish, two glasses of water, and more cost more than £380 (€429.80) for a couple of Japanese tourists dining in Rome in 2019.
A picture of their bill, which they shared to TripAdvisor, revealed that they were charged €349.80 for the food and an additional €80 as a required service charge.
