PM Modi Celebrates Uttarakhand’s 25th Foundation Day; Highlights State’s Remarkable Progress

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the people of Uttarakhand in Garhwali, marking the 25th anniversary of the state’s formation.

He highlighted that Uttarakhand has made remarkable progress in every aspect over the past 25 years, crediting the collective determination of its residents and effective policies.

PM Modi paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the statehood movement and congratulated the people for the state’s achievements.

During the celebrations, PM Modi inaugurated projects worth over ₹930 crore and laid foundation stones for initiatives exceeding ₹7,210 crore, covering key sectors such as drinking water, irrigation, technical education, energy, urban development, sports, and skill development.

He also released ₹62 crore directly to over 28,000 farmers under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana.

PM Modi recalled the state’s early challenges, including limited resources, a small budget, and scarce employment opportunities, which were largely supported by the Centre.

He contrasted this with the present day, highlighting that Uttarakhand’s budget has grown from ₹4,000 crore to over ₹1 lakh crore.

Electricity production has quadrupled, road networks have doubled, and the number of engineering colleges has increased more than tenfold, while medical colleges have risen from one to ten.

Tourist inflows via air routes have grown from 4,000 to over 6,000 daily visitors.

Spiritual and Cultural Connection

The Prime Minister also reflected on his personal spiritual journey in Uttarakhand, noting how the state’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and the resilience of its people inspired his vision for the region.

PM Modi reaffirmed his belief that the decade ahead belongs to Uttarakhand, underpinned by development that balances faith, culture, and modernity.

PM Modi emphasised Uttarakhand’s determination to achieve the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, positioning the state as a model for balanced growth.

He noted that these initiatives and investments would continue to improve the quality of life, enhance livelihoods, and reinforce Uttarakhand as a leading contributor to India’s economic and cultural progress.

At the event, PM Modi inaugurated an exhibition showcasing the state’s achievements in multiple sectors over the last 25 years.

He interacted with various stakeholders, highlighting success stories in education, tourism, health, rural development, and industry, reinforcing Uttarakhand’s journey from a people’s movement to a model of inclusive and sustainable development.

The Prime Minister reiterated that Uttarakhand’s growth reflects the synergy between visionary policies and the dedication of its people, setting a benchmark for development across India.

The state’s journey demonstrates how collective effort and strategic planning can transform challenges into opportunities, making Uttarakhand a symbol of progress and inspiration for the nation.
