Most polling stations nationwide opened Tuesday morning. Officials increased security, adding rooftop snipers, panic buttons for election workers, and surveillance drones to key locations. The Washington Post, quoting Xinhua, reported these extensive measures.
Voters Fear High Stakes and Potential Conflict
This election is one of the most divisive in US history. Harris and Trump have each warned of serious consequences if the other wins. Voters hold opposing views on issues like the economy, immigration, and abortion. An APA survey found 77% of Americans feel stressed about the country’s future, and 74% worry about possible violence.
Residents of Dixville Notch voiced a call for unity. “We need to come together,” said voter Scott Maxwell. Annmarie Pintal, another voter, urged both candidates to accept results gracefully.
