The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its second list of candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections on Saturday, naming 29 contenders. This brings the BJP’s total announced candidates to 58, with 12 nominees yet to be finalized for the 70-member Assembly.
The list includes prominent figures such as Delhi BJP Vice-President Kapil Mishra, who will contest from Karawal Nagar, and Delhi BJP Secretary Harish Khurana, who has been fielded from Moti Nagar. Both leaders have criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), targeting its policies and governance.

The BJP has retained Abhay Verma, the incumbent MLA from Laxmi Nagar, citing his strong performance. However, some sitting legislators from constituencies like Chandni Chowk and Shakur Basti have been dropped due to a lack of public connection.
Meanwhile, AAP has declared all 70 candidates, and Congress has released three lists comprising 48 nominees.
High-Stakes Poll Battles
Several constituencies are set for intense battles. In New Delhi, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal faces BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit. In Kalkaji, Congress’ Alka Lamba and BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri will challenge AAP CM candidate Atishi.
Party insiders revealed that the remaining 12 BJP candidates will be announced soon after the central leadership’s approval. The upcoming election is expected to be closely contested, with key seats drawing significant attention from pollsters and political observers.
