Overcoming Musetti Tommy Paul lifted his third ATP tour title and first on grass at the Queen’s Club Championships. He defeated Lorenzo Musetti by 6-1,7-6(8) in the finals.
Paul guaranteed that he will overcome Taylor Fritz and take the No. 1 spot in the American rankings for the first time in his career on Monday with his 27th tour-level victory of the year.
The 27-year-old is expected to move up to the ATP Rankings’ No. 12 spot.
Paul has only dropped one set this week, which speaks highly of him. The American won in Dallas this February after winning his first tour-level title in Stockholm in 2021. At the ATP 500 level, this is his first Queen’s Club title.

The American was full steam ahead right out of the blocks. After a few breaks, Paul had taken the opening set. With a 2-1 advantage early in the second set, Musetti had already more than doubled the amount of games won overall. Tommy Paul broke once again to lead 5-4 and serve for the victory, but Musetti refused to back down and tied the score at 5-5.
In the second set, Musetti had the opportunity to tie the match with a serve as it entered a tiebreak. Paul gained a match point, which Musetti saved, and thereafter found himself at half-time.
Paul reached down to save Musetti’s set point. The American got it in himself to challenge for a second Match Point, and he didn’t let the chance pass him by this time. A massive serve that Musetti managed to get a racket on, but his return was unsuccessful, causing Paul to raise his arms in triumph.
