Indian Olympic Association have decided to provide comprehensive medical health insurance and pension schemes to former Olympians. IOA President and athlete PT Usha announced on Sunday during an event honouring Gurbachan Singh Randhawa.
On International Olympic day, Usha revealed she has brought these suggestions to the attention of the IOA Executive Committee. They will discuss the proposal shortly. The IOA has pledged to pay for these costs on its own, demonstrating its dedication to the welfare of retired athletes who have represented the country with distinction.

Former Indian archer Limba Ram inspired Usha to come up with the idea, who has been dealing with serious health problems. Limba, who was once a ray of hope for Indian archery, is currently dealing with serious health issues, which emphasises how urgently retired athletes need a strong support network.
The goal of Usha’s plan is to guarantee that no former Olympian will have to face financial difficulty in the event of a medical emergency or in the years following their retirement. This programme is evidence of the IOA’s appreciation for the efforts and sacrifices made by athletes who have represented India at the greatest platform possible—the Olympic Games.
A broad range of medical costs will be covered by the proposed medical health insurance plan, guaranteeing that former Olympians receive the best care possible without having to worry about breaking the bank. In contrast, the pension plan will give players a reliable source of income to support a respectable lifestyle once they retire from competitive sports.
