DGCA Imposes Penalty Of Rs. 30 Lakh Each On Air India And SpiceJet For Failling To Follow The Instructions

DGCA has imposed a penalty of Rs 30 lakh each on Air India and SpiceJet for failing to comply with instructions regarding rostering of pilots issued to airline operators vide minutes of meeting (MoM) on Low Visibility Operations and Fog Preparedness held in DGCA HQs on 06 Nov 2023. Earlier, DGCA issued show cause notice to the airlines for rostering non-CAT III compliant pilots during low-visibility at Delhi airport that led to many diversions of Delhi bound flights.

DGCA Imposes Fine Worth Rs. 60 lakh On CSMI Airport After Video Of Passengers Eating On Tarmac At Aiport Goes Viral

DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) imposes a fine of Rs 60 Lakh on CSMI Airport, Mumbai (MIAL) in connection with the video of passengers eating on the tarmac at the Airport, that went viral on social media. DGCA says that the reply to the Show Cause Notice was received on 17.01.2024 and was not found satisfactory as the response submitted by MIAL shows that they have failed to adhere to the safety requirements as laid down in the Air Safety Circular 04 of 2007.

ICICI Prudential Life Q3 profit flat at Rs 227 crore

ICICI Prudential Life Insurance on Wednesday reported a flat net profit of Rs 227 crore for the third quarter ended December 2023. The company had posted a profit of Rs 221 crore in the same quarter a year ago. During the third quarter of this fiscal the net premium income increased to Rs 9,929 crore, as against Rs 9,465 crore in the same period a year ago, ICICI Prudential Life said in a regulatory filing. The assets under management of the company increased to Rs 2,86,676 crore as against Rs 2,51,884 crore at the end of third quarter of previous fiscal, it said. The company's net worth was Rs 11,075 crore on December 31, 2023 while the solvency ratio was 196.5 per cent against the regulatory requirement of 150 per cent.

Mumbai airport incident: BCAS slaps Rs 1.20 cr fine on IndiGo, Rs 60 lakh penalty on MIAL

Aviation security regulator BCAS on Wednesday slapped fines totalling Rs 1.80 crore on IndiGo and Mumbai airport operator MIAL over the incident of passengers having food on the airport tarmac. A penalty of Rs 1.20 crore has been imposed on IndiGo while the fine on MIAL is Rs 60 lakh, according to orders issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). Many passengers rushed out of an IndiGo aircraft at the Mumbai airport, sat on the tarmac, and some were also seen having food there as soon as their diverted Goa-Delhi flight landed after a long delay on Sunday. The regulator had issued show cause notices to IndiGo and MIAL saying that they were not proactive in anticipating the situation and making the appropriate facilitation arrangements for passengers at the airport. Besides, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh on MIAL (Mumbai International Airport Ltd) over the incident.

Brown sugar worth Rs 80,000 seized, 2 held in Odisha

Two persons, including a woman, were arrested in Odisha's Balasore district after brown sugar worth around Rs 80,000 was seized from their possession, police said. Acting on a tip-off, a team of policemen on Tuesday night conducted a search operation in Adarbazar area in the Sahadevkhunta Police Station limits and seized the narcotics substance weighing 82.2 grams, a senior officer said. Unaccounted cash of Rs 14,800 was also seized from their possession, he said. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and several sections of the IPC, the officer added.

King Charles III to undergo ‘corrective procedure’ next week for enlarged prostate

Buckingham Palace says King Charles III will undergo a “corrective procedure” next week for an enlarged prostate. The palace says the king's condition is benign. The palace says the 75-year-old monarch has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate “in common with thousands of men each year”. It says he will require “a short period of recuperation” after the procedure.

Delhi BJP MP Manoj Tiwari's second bhajan on Lord Ram was released on Wednesday, ahead of the January 22 consecration of the idol of Ram Lalla at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Tiwari, a famous Bhojpuri actor-singer, said his devotional song "Wo Hai Ram" was released by T-Series. Hindustan Media Ventures posts Q3 net loss of Rs 0.88 cr

Hindustan Media Ventures Ltd (HMVL) on Wednesday reported a consolidated loss after tax of Rs 0.88 crore for the third quarter ended on December 2023. The company had posted a net loss after tax of Rs 0.69 crore in the October-December period a year ago, according to a regulatory filing by HMVL, the publisher of Hindi daily Hindustan. However, its revenue from operations marginally grew to Rs 182.95 crore in the December quarter. It was Rs 181.57 crore in the corresponding period a year ago. In the December quarter, the total expenses of HMVL were at Rs 208.38 crore, down 1.58 per cent. Shares of Hindustan Media Ventures Ltd settled 2.79 per cent lower at Rs 100.71 apiece.

Multiple deaths reported as firework factory explodes in central Thailand

An explosion at a firework factory in central Thailand killed at least 15 people on Wednesday, a rescue worker said. Workers were trying to confirm the exact number of deaths, said Kritsada Manee-In with the Samerkun Suphan Buri Rescue Foundation, but he estimated that around 15 to 17 people were killed. Photos posted online by local rescue workers in Suphan Buri province showed the site levelled.

Prez Murmu stuck for over 4 hours in Meghalaya due to bad weather

President Droupadi Murmu was reportedly stuck here for over four hours on Wednesday, as her helicopter could not take off due to bad weather, officials said. Murmu was scheduled to depart from Shillong for Diphu in Assam at 10 am, they said. "The president is due to leave the Raj Bhavan in another 10 minutes... She was delayed owing to bad weather," a senior official told PTI around 2:35 pm. Murmu is slated to attend a programme organised by the Karbi Anglong administration in Diphu. The president was on a two-day maiden visit to Meghalaya
