Delhi Police’s special cell dismantles interstate drug syndicate, nabs key members with 3 kg of pure opium valued at Rs 1 crore
Special Cell of Delhi Police busted an interstate drug syndicate and seized over 3 kg of pure opium worth around Rs 1 crore in national capital. Two key members of syndicate were arrested. According to police, accused identified as Siyaram and Dinesh, both residents of Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, were supplying contraband drugs for the last five years and in the last one year, they had supplied over 100 kg of opium in Delhi and its peripherals.
Lucknow: Police set to compile list of lawyers involved in criminal charges, property dealing, and land encroachment
Lucknow police are getting ready to draw up a list of lawyers facing criminal charges, including those allegedly involved in property dealing and accused of land encroachment, and will register cases under Gangsters Act against them. The action comes after Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court expressed strong displeasure over misbehaviour by ‘men in black’. In an order, high court expressed concern over a number of lawyers involved in property dealings instead of practising law. The high court directed the Lucknow commissioner of police (CP) SB Shirodkar to submit a list of such lawyers facing criminal charges.

Sources said that raid and search operations are being conducted in relation to Gangopadhyay’s association with a foreign liquor manufacturing entity. The raids and search operations are being conducted at Gangopadhyay’s residence after surfacing of evidence of fund defalcation and income tax evasion.
