The first member of parliament to be suspended is Godey Murahari, an independent Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh. On September 3, 1962, Murahari was suspended for the rest of the session due to disruptive behaviour. The Marshal of the House had to physically remove him because he would not leave. Murahari received two suspensions for disruptive behaviour. According to PRS Legislative Research, on July 25, 1966, two separate motions moved by Leader of the House M C Chagla and approved by the House suspended him and fellow MP Raj Narain from Rajya Sabha for one week. Marshals removed both of them because they refused to leave.
