Kerala Police registers case against opposition leader Satheesan over YC march violence

The Kerala Police has registered a case against Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan, making him the first accused in connection with the violence during a Youth Congress march to the state secretariat. The Congress leader has been charged under non-bailable sections of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly attacking the police and participating in the destruction of public property during the march on Wednesday, the police said.

Centre’s panel to decide on quantum of drought relief to Karnataka on Dec 23: Karnataka minister

Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Wednesday said the state government's Rs 18,171 crore drought relief proposal will be taken up by a high-level central committee on December 23. "A high-level committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, will on December 23 decide the quantum of drought relief to Karnataka," Gowda told reporters after meeting Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda on the issue. Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday and the Union Home Minister on Wednesday and requested for early release of the drought relief to the state, he said.

ED has provisionally attached properties in the form of bank balance, FDs and agriculture land situated at Barabanki, UP worth Rs 2.03 Crore belonging to Mrs. Neeharika Singh W/o Ajeet Gupta under the provisions of the PMLA, 2002, in the case of Anee Bullion Industries fraud. Total attachment in this case stands at Rs. 9.10 Crore.

Nine-Year-Old Delhi Girl Raped And killed, Search Operation Still Underway

Search operation is still underway at Delhi's Munak Canal to fish out the body of a nine-year-old girl who was raped, murdered, and dumped into the canal water eight days ago. According to officials, an NDRF team of 26 jawans is also deployed for search operations.

Amit Shah Proposes Swift Judicial Reforms: Seven-Day Window for Acquittal Pleas, 120-Day Trial Period, and Mandatory Document Submission in 30 Days

Home Minister Amit Shah in Lok Sabha says, "Now the accused will get seven days to file a plea for acquittal. The judge has to hold the hearing in those seven days and in a maximum time of 120 days, the case would come to trial. There was no time limit for plea bargaining earlier. Now if one accepts their crime within 30 days of the crime then the punishment would be less. There was no provision to present documents during trials. We have made it compulsory to produce all documents within 30 days. No delays will be made in that."

Telangana Deputy CM Presents Alarming State Finances: Total Debt Soars to Rs 6.7 Trillion

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday tabled a white paper on the state's finances in the assembly. According to the white paper, the total debt of the state has gone up to Rs 6,71,757 crore from Rs 72,658 crore in 2014-15. According to the white paper, no tangible fiscal assets in proportion to the money spent were created in the past 10 years.

Amit Shah Unveils Overhaul of Criminal Laws: Rape and Murder Redefined, Emphasis on Forensic Science

Amit Shah further says, -Rape was Section 376... now rape is section 66 and 69. Murder was section 302 in IPC, and now, in Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, is section 101. -We have said investigations should be done on the basis of forensic science especially in rape cases etc, it is important that such investigations are carried out using forensic science and the latest technology. -Now after these laws there will be uniform system of judicial magistrates.

Home Minister Amit Shah in Lok Sabha said, "In CrPC there were 484 sections, now there will be 531 sections in it. Changes have been made in 177 sections and 9 new sections have been added. 39 new sub-sections have been added. 44 new provisions have been added."
